Position Information: The Landscape Services Supervisor is a member of the UCR Facilities Services team and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, development, coordination and installation of landscape areas for the campus. Develops and formulates work schedules for landscape maintenance, including watering, mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, new plantings and litter control. Obtains and maintains stock inventory of parts, materials and equipment necessary for timely completion of projects, keeps records and prepares reports. Makes recommendations and assists in the selection of landscape equipment, materials and types of landscaping. Performs area inspections and assists in the development and implementation of Landscaping Services' policies and procedures. Monitors work order system, accepts and delegates service requests for the campus. Provides immediate supervision to a crew of landscaping staff, monitors work assignments and ensures personnel compliance with collective bargaining union and agreements, as applicable. Responsible for daily operational administration and personnel management, including staffing, hiring, training, disciplinary action, termination, payroll/timekeeping, and performance management. Provides guidance to staff by interpreting rules, regulations and contracts, and enforcing safety procedures in horticultural activities. Ensures safety procedures are followed and maintained. Promotes and maintains a strong customer service focused environment and cooperative teamwork philosophy in the unit. Provides operational support to other Facilities Services units, as necessary.
UC Riverside's Facilities Services is recruiting for a Landscape Services Supervisor. The full salary range for the Landscape Services Supervisor is $66,500 - $118,300. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Experience operating, managing, maintaining, and repairing central controlled irrigation systems. Required
Experience providing landscaping services with the use of landscaping equipment, such as rotary and reel riding mowers, trimmer, roto tillers, light trenchers, utility vehicles, tractors with various attachments, forklifts. Required
Experience executing horticultural technique and procedures. Required
Experience using online and/or web-based work order systems. Preferred
Hired candidate must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment start date. Required
Must be available to respond to on-call or after hour emergencies. Required
Must wear University issued ID badge. Required
Public Driving Record. Required
Shift Work (hours outside standard Mon-Fri 8 AM-5 PM work hours). Required
Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Required

Minimum Requirements
Working knowledge in landscape/groundskeeping services.
Working verbal and written communication skills in the English language, including active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, and the ability to multi-task and ensure effective time management.
Working decision making and reasoning skills, and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems and conduct operations analysis and quality control analysis.
Working, effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other personnel.
Ability to provide plant and pest identification.
Basic computer applications skills.
Ability to instruct others on the safe use of landscaping and ground keeping equipment.
Skill to coordinate projects and work with vendors and other campus departments in order to meet designated objectives and deadlines.
Knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety regulations. Ability to provide staff guidance on safety policies and practices.
Proficient computer/technical skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Proven ability to work with diverse populations.
Ability to generate and provide reports on project status, staffing, equipment, schedules, metrics, etc.
Ability to motivate and inspire staff to provide the highest level of quality and service to campus constituents.
Skilled at landscape design.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and understanding of applicable laws, rules, codes, regulations, and knowledge of UC systems, policies, procedures and regulations.

Possesses and applies extensive knowledge of plant identification, plant care, and general horticulture. Familiar with arboriculture, safe tree trimming practice and procedures and ensures adherence to such practices.

May perform mowing operations utilizing equipment such as three and five gang hydraulically driven reel rotary mowers, walk-behind mowers, turf sweepers, tractors and 3-pt and tow behind implements.
