The City of Naperville’s Electric Utility is seeking a skilled Utility Supervisor III to schedule, coordinate, oversee, and evaluate the work of Electric Utility work crews and support staff.

Duties
Supervises, coaches and mentors control room staff. Administers disciplinary measures as appropriate.
Oversees training new System Controllers. Provide direction and guidance with City and Department policies.
Reviews switching requests, routines, daily workloads, and weekly work management schedules. Monitors work schedules and coordinates the work of distribution, automation, substation, contractors, and outside agency crews performing installation, repair, and maintenance of Electric Utility infrastructure.
Communicates and coordinates electrical work with other utilities, departments, and external agencies and contractors. Schedules and attends meetings such as pre-construction, coordination, and concept design. Alerts large customers of pending work which may affect their operations.
Oversees the preparation and maintenance of work records and prepares a variety of operational reports. Prepares and evaluates bidding documents and specifications.
Inspects/reviews outage reports and daily operating log for clarification of events, efficiencies, and accuracy. Works with fault reports from SCADA to determine the sequence of events in major outage events.
Maintains System Controller schedules/rotation and ensures coverage during extended vacancies. Approves schedule changes and reviews timekeeping records for accuracy.
Prepares correspondence and documentation to/for contractors, agencies, and other departments. Utilizes the UMS system to provide data to internal customers including outage reports, daily operations, historical data, and queries.
Works with the Operations Manager and/or Substation Supervisors, Distribution Supervisors, Engineering, and other divisions to develop and implement unit goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.
Utilizes and manages various software systems including Axis Detect, XProtect camera system, Identipass access card system, video wall (Raritan), Responder, UMS, GIS, and Microsoft Office to assist System Controllers in ability to perform job functions.
Oversees the updating and correction of GIS and map data.
May perform Standby rotation assignment(s). Assumes Person-in-Charge/Incident Command role during Storm Operations. Initiates/coordinates pre-event meetings. May supervise Line Electricians, Service Truck Operators, and/or Crew Leaders, plus various Distribution support personnel (i.e., Locators, Tool Room Technicians, etc.).
Maintains COOP manual, emergency response operation manuals, New Controller Training Manual, Control Room Policy Manual, and Station Contingency manuals.
May assume Manager’s basic responsibilities in his/her absence.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent plus a Journeyman Lineman License and five years of Journeyman experience or an Associate’s Degree plus three years of experience or a Bachelor’s Degree plus one to two years of experience.
A valid State of Illinois Class D driver’s license.
