This position is responsible for the efficient and economic design and construction of underground and overhead electric distribution specializing in line extensions to serve new residential members, single phase line relocations and maintenance projects, in accordance with RUS requirements, recommended practices, the N.E.S.C. and EMC policies and procedures.
Plan, design, and coordinate the staking of line extensions to serve new residential and small commercial members, line location and maintenance projects utilizing staking software including Futura/Partner, Pole Foreman.
Procure all required permits, easements, and right-of-way: ?
Procure all legal documents such as easements, D.O.T., railroad, pipeline, and Corp. of Engineers permits as each project may require.
Directly interact and negotiate with members, property owners, and corporate attorney to obtain easements and right-of-ways.
Complete Georgia D.O.T. permits, county permits, and new overhead and underground specifications in AUTO-Cad.
Design specifications for construction crews including drawings on overhead and underground projects.
Adhere to and promote utilization of good engineering practices. Follow guidelines as set forth in, but not limited to, the Association policies, rules, regulations, rates, construction practices, RUS line construction specifications, NESC guidelines and applicable governing regulations.
Calculate project cost for all construction projects.
Serve as the liaison with developers/member, engineers, homebuilders, municipalities, consultants, and utility crews.
Must have the ability to process data on staking software (Futura/Partner, Poleforeman) proficiently after 1 year along with the ability to down load information to the main frame.
Complete Georgia D.O.T permits, and county permits, in Auto-Cad.
Resolve member complains in a timely and professional manner and ensure and changes are made to correct unsatisfactory conditions.
Keep updated on new developments in electric power distribution and government specifications.
Assist construction crews during storm outages.
Complete all assigned tasks and functions in a timely manner, within current established and changed EMC policies and procedures with minimum supervision.
Create locate tickets through 811 system.
Field Engineering Technician II
This position is responsible for the efficient and economic design and construction of underground and overhead electric distribution systems specializing in residential projects. To assist Sr. Field Engineering Technicians and Project Engineers as needed.
Plan, design, and engineer, projects specializing in single phase extensions, both overhead and underground for residential consumers utilizing engineering software including Futura Systems and PoleForeman.
Design specifications for construction crews including drawings on overhead and underground projects.
Calculate project cost estimates for all construction projects in assigned territory.
Serve as the liaison with developers, engineers, homebuilders, municipalities, consultants, utility contractors, and GreyStone Member Service Representatives in assigned area.
Design system facilities according to industry standard construction specifications, while paying attention to existing lines and utilities and/or proposed facilities, and in accordance with RUS, N.E.S.C. and GreyStone Power specifications.
Perform all assigned CAD activities, construction drawings, cost estimates, material management and surveying.

Research the Georgia archives and local courthouse documents to obtain proper legal right-of-way and property deeds for prior rights.

Field Engineering Technician III
This position is responsible for the efficient and economic design and construction of underground and overhead electric distribution systems specializing in residential and commercial projects, and small-scale state and county D.O.T. projects. To assist Sr. Field Engineering Technicians and Project Engineers with large three phase commercial extensions and system improvement projects as needed.
Plan, design, and engineer, projects specializing in multi-phase extensions, both overhead and underground for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers utilizing engineering software including Futura Systems and PoleForeman.
Design specifications for construction crews including drawings on overhead and underground projects.
Calculate project cost estimates for all construction projects in assigned territory.
Serve as the liaison with developers, engineers, homebuilders, municipalities, consultants, utility contractors, and GreyStone Member Service Representatives.

Field Engineering Technician I
• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, and/or technical design. • Associate degree in electrical engineering and/or equivalent with 0 years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, technical design. • Prefers one year experience in field engineering or other related experience. • Must have a working knowledge to operate Auto-Cad program to complete a Georgia DOT permit, county permit, along with being able to create new overhead and underground specifications in Auto-Cad. • Ability to set up files in a PDF format to send out to the various governmental agencies. • Should be familiar with GreyStone Power’s service territory and have the ability to read company mapping system. • Must have ability to prepare legal documents such as Right of Way easements, state, and county permits. • Must become proficient in the use of the sections field computers and software within the first six-month introductory period. • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with the members, developers, land agents, attorneys, and other regulatory agencies. • Must satisfactorily pass the EMC's employment physical exam and required drug screens. • Requires valid Georgia driver’s license.
Field Engineering Technician II
High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, and/or technical design.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, and/or technical design (preferred).
Two (2) years’ experience as a Field Engineering Technician I.
Certified I.T.S. Operator - access only. Certification required every two years.
Proficient in engineering residential and small commercial line extensions, line relocations, and maintenance projects.
Proficient in the analysis of survey data, source maps and photographs, distribution maps, computer or automated mapping products, and other records to follow procedures and perform calculations to design system facilities.
Ability to perform all engineering functions and work under the supervision of Field Engineering Supervisor.
Knowledge and ability to create and maintain locates with the UPC.
Proficient with personal computers including, Word, Excel, Auto-Cad, Futura Systems and PoleForeman.
Ability to troubleshoot and recognize software problems.
Must satisfactorily pass the EMC's employment physical examination and required drug screens.
Requires a valid Georgia driver's license.
Field Engineering Technician III
High School Diploma or GED with 7+ years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, and/or technical design.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent with 4+ years of experience in construction management, drafting, utility experience, technical design (preferred).
Five (5) years’ experience as a Field Engineering Technician II.
Certified I.T.S. Operator - access only. Certification required every two years.
Proficient in engineering residential and small commercial line extensions, line relocations, and maintenance projects.
Documented experience assisting on projects involving three phase system improvement, three phase line extensions to serve commercial facilities and underground projects.
Proficient in the analysis of survey data, source maps and photographs, distribution maps, computer or automated mapping products, and other records to follow procedures and perform calculations to design system facilities.
Ability to accurately size transformers and service wire to adequately serve member needs.
Ability to perform all engineering functions and work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge and ability to create and maintain locates with the UPC.
Proficient with personal computers including, Word, Excel, Auto-Cad, Futura Systems and PoleForeman
Ability to troubleshoot and recognize software problems.
Must satisfactorily pass the EMC's employment physical examination and required drug screens.
