Position Information: Reporting to the Director of Agricultural Operations, the Financial & Administrative Officer (FAO) provides leadership in the management of financial, personnel, facilities, administrative and research support infrastructure for the Agricultural Operations Unit. The unit is an integral part of the Agricultural Experiment Station and acts as the custodian of land utilized to meet the goals of our agricultural mission. Agricultural Operations is dedicated to the management of the University of California, Riverside's experiment stations and supports field research, greenhouses and other growing facilities for the faculty and staff of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. Fiscal responsibilities include management of approximately $4M comprised primarily of permanent state appropriations & sales & service revenues. In addition, the FAO will be responsible for administering ANR Hatch funds & annual ag related funding (approximately $1.5M annually) that comes to our campus in support of the Agricultural Experiment Station and acts as liaison between CNAS and ANR for Ag and CE reporting. Administration of these college-level funds necessitates a dotted line reporting to the Dean's Office for this FAO position. The FAO must be comfortable managing a broad-range of fund sources including grants, gift and lease income and is expected to be an expert in fund management. The FAO is the primary staff contact and advisor to the Director and serves to direct day-to-day operations while assigning and motivating staff, maintaining expert-level financial & administrative controls and promoting a culture of safety. The FAO is responsible for ensuring adherence to policy, establishing best practices within the unit and working alongside the Dean's Office and central campus offices to meet departmental objectives. Additional responsibilities include interfacing with other administrative teams college-wide to ensure the needs of researchers and the other constituents served are met.
The full salary range for the Financial and Administrative Officer is $103,100 - $196,300. However, the expected pay rate for this position is up to $160,000. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
