Position Information: Under clinical / technical direction of the Cardiologist and administrative oversight of the clinical site practice manager, the Echocardiography Technician performs a full range of cardiac diagnostic ultrasound procedures and complex specialized procedures on adult and pediatric patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This includes M-mode, 2 & 3 dimensional echocardiograms, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, pharmacological and exercise/pharmacological stress echo, and strain imaging. Has advanced cognitive abilities in echocardiography and cardiac conditions, recognizes, and describes abnormal findings and tailors the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam. In addition, obtains additional data based on abnormal findings. Makes the decision as to when an echo contrast agent &/or agitated saline injections according to policy. Will prepare and position patients, adjust equipment to best demonstrate area of interest, operate various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems. Prepare preliminary interpretation of those studies in image archiving/reporting solutions. Prepare and maintain records pertinent to echo studies. Works with the medical director for quality improvement, IAC certification. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff.
The full salary range for the Echocardiography Technician is $91,475.28 - $113,712.48 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Prior experience using an electronic health record.

Must have two years experience in adult echocardiology and/or cardiac ultrasound. Ability to apply knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and congenital heart disease. Ability to understand complex concepts and apply to patient care.

Credentialed with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, nurses, staff, and others in a professional and courteous manner.

Direct Patient Care Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures such as 2-D/3-D echo, stress echo, pharmacological stress, and contrast echocardiograms using a variety of ultrasound machines and equipment for clinical testing and procedures. Explains procedure to patients and properly instructs the patient to be positioned appropriately. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Uses independent judgement during the echo exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.

Documentation Record and retrieve clinical data in the digital imaging system, and electronic medical record/clinical information system. Assist in preparing for ICAEL certification for the laboratory.

Equipment and Supplies Responsible for maintaining competency in all echocardiography ultrasound equipment. Assists with reporting and documentation of equipment malfunctions. Assist in ensuring that adequate echo supplies are available for daily procedure needs.
